The Middlesex DUIL Program is a 14-day residential therapeutic support program for people who have been drinking and driving. Founded in 1985 to offer persons convicted of a second OUI violation in Massachusetts an educational and counseling-based alternative to jail. Since then, the MHSA Middlesex DUIL Program has served over 47,000 clients, with over 98 percent of them successfully completing the program.

Clients are accepted into the Middlesex DUIL Program after being referred by a trial court. Clients aged 18-21 who have been convicted of a first offense under “Melanie’s Law,” as well as self-referrals and special referrals from the courts, are all accepted into the DUIL Program. The DUIL Program keeps in touch with probation officials all around the state on a regular basis.
