The Program is housed in a three-story facility that provides a welcoming, sober, and homelike atmosphere. Residents work on developing recovery skills and support structures for three to twelve months while in the program. Prior to discharge, residents are aided with gaining job, entitlements, parenting skills, living skills, and coping skills, as well as locating suitable housing. Residents with these skills, resources, and supports are better able to transition into the community and maintain long-term sobriety and a higher quality of life.

Fall River and New Bedford, Massachusetts are home to the Outpatient Clinic. A psychiatrist and other professional practitioners, as well as mental health and substance abuse clinicians, work in the program.

The Dual Diagnosis Unit, or DDS, is a short-term acute care unit that was established in 1999 to serve people who suffer from both mental illness and substance dependence. Men and women who have a drug addiction issue with alcohol, opiates, or benzodiazepines can receive inpatient detoxification therapy at SSTAR.

Our services encourage the engagement process and a family-centered approach because substance use can be stigmatizing and may interfere with the ability to recognise the need for treatment. We provide therapy for substance use disorders as well as mental health issues and trauma.
Collaboration with primary health, governmental agencies, and formal and natural support systems is used to provide care.
