The program’s purpose is to help clients and their families achieve and maintain a drug-free lifestyle. Our goal is to deliver a customized, thorough therapy program that identifies and addresses the client’s specific needs. Clients who are qualified for IMPACT services do not require a higher level of care due to medical, psychological, or behavioral issues. (For example, tapering needs for drugs and alcohol, methadone maintenance treatment, and residential programs).

We provide services in our offices, at clients’ homes, or in public places such as local schools, courts, and coffee shops. Our services encourage the engagement process and a family-centered approach because substance use can be stigmatizing and may interfere with the ability to recognise the need for treatment. We provide therapy for substance use disorders as well as mental health issues and trauma.
Collaboration with primary health, governmental agencies, and formal and natural support systems is used to provide care.

Caspar Womanplace is a drug and alcohol rehab treatment program for women in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that offers a transitional sober living environment. CASPAR (Cambridge And Somerville Programs for Addiction Recovery), which is part of Bay Cove Human Services, is a community-based non-profit organization that was created in 1970 in response to the growing demand for substance abuse treatment in the region.

For the 10% of the population impacted by substance use disorders at the time, there were no treatment options other than local hospital emergency departments. The early 1970s decriminalization of alcoholism in Massachusetts—a legislative movement spearheaded by CASPAR’s founders—confirmed CASPAR’s belief that persons with substance use problems need treatment, not incarceration.
