Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is a type of addiction treatment that uses medication to help people (also known as Medication Assisted Treatment). Suboxone and Vivitrol are used to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and cravings while patients make the behavioral and environmental changes required to meet their short- and long-term objectives. Families First requires patients to receive group and/or individual counseling and also offers other medications, stress-reduction classes, care coordination, referrals to additional treatment and community resources, parenting classes, home visiting, and help managing chronic illnesses to help with those other changes.
