At Recovery First, we provide a complete continuum of care. Regardless of what program you start in, you’ll be getting many of the same therapies, treatments, and group sessions throughout your treatment. This makes the transitions between levels far easier and helps you focus more on your individual recovery.

Everyone’s path is not the same. Our clinicians will perform a thorough physical exam, medical history, and other tests to determine your current level of health – both physical and mental – to determine the right first step for you. This information will help us know exactly where you belong in our program.

Keep reading to see the different levels of care available at Recovery First.

Medical Alcohol Detox

Medical detox is where you can withdraw safely from drugs and/or alcohol. In many cases, it is incredibly uncomfortable and/or unsafe to do this alone. In detox, you’ll have 24/7 care to ensure you don’t have to suffer needlessly and that your symptoms are addressed as they arise.

Nurses will perform rounds every 15 minutes to make sure you’re comfortable and to distribute medications as necessary. You can also rest assured that you’ll be safe during withdrawal, as we use EarlySense beds to monitor your vital signs. This technology can sense if you’re restless at night or if there’s a change in your respiration rate or blood pressure and send an alert to the nurses’ station.

Typically, detox lasts for 5 to 10 days and includes 3 prepared meals each day.

Intensive Alcohol Rehabilitation

For those whose medical needs dictate intensive supervision after detox, we offer intensive rehabilitation. You’ll receive treatment for your substance use disorder while also receiving the 24/7 medical care and supervision you need from our qualified and caring medical staff.

Residential Alcohol Treatment

Our live-in/residential treatment facility is a 28-bed complex where you’ll live with 3 to 5 other people at a time in a sober setting. Each apartment has 2 or 3 bedrooms, and each bedroom will house 2 people. By the time you move into residential treatment, you should be feeling much better physically, no longer influenced by drugs or alcohol or suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

You will spend the majority of your day in structured therapeutic sessions such as process group therapy, yoga or meditation, 12-step meetings, or various wellness classes. Most people spend an average of 15 to 30 days in residential treatment, though we recommend longer stays, as they tend to result in better outcomes.

Partial Hospitalization Program

The most intensive form of treatment is our partial hospitalization program, also sometimes known as day treatment. It allows you to live at home during treatment, but requires a lot of your time be spent in treatment. PHP takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for 5-7 days each week, depending on how much treatment you require. The 5- to 6-hour clinical program involves a number of group and individual therapy sessions, mindfulness training, spirituality groups, relapse prevention strategies, and much more to help you cope with your struggles.

Intensive Outpatient Alcohol Program

Our intensive outpatient program is held 3 evenings a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—from 6 to 9 p.m. In our IOP, you’ll discuss the process of addiction with many of the same individuals who were with you in other levels of treatment. The program helps you continue to explore and process what you learned in residential treatment and applying your newfound skills to life in the outside world, as you’ll no longer be living onsite at Recovery First.

What Kinds Of Alcohol Addiction Treatment Are There?

Once a person has decided they need professional addiction treatment and recovery services, they will find the options are endless in figuring out what that treatment path looks like. Before that important decision is made, it’s important to first understand the treatment system and what is available to you or your loved one. The addiction treatment program types are:

OUTPATIENT ALCOHOL TREATMENT

This treatment program is low-to-medium in intensity. Outpatient clients commonly receive no more than nine hours of treatment a week at a specialty facility while continuing to live either at home or another place that is outside the center. This amount could be less for recovering teen users. Some centers offer evening or weekend outpatient services so people can continue to meet outside responsibilities such as work or school.

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT ALCOHOL TREATMENT

Clients receiving intensive outpatient care can attend between 10 hours and 20 hours of treatment a week at a center while living off-site. Like the outpatient setting, it is medium to high intensity and offers evening or weekend services so outside responsibilities can be met such as work or stay in school. People who require multiple services or have accompanying medical or psychological illnesses along with a substance use disorder may benefit from this setting. Individuals who need a higher level of care than outpatient treatment may also find an IOP to be a better fit.

RESIDENTIAL ALCOHOL TREATMENT

Residential treatment provides a structured environment with medium-to-high intensity that lets clients fully focus on their recovery with 24-hour support. Addiction care and medical professionals are available 24 hours a day to help clients with their needs. These programs can run from a month to 12 months. The severity of someone’s addiction and other factors are reviewed before residential treatment is recommended. Residents go through different phases as they move through their program.

PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION ALCOHOL PROGRAMS (ALSO KNOWN AS DAY TREATMENT)

Partial hospitalization programs can be viewed as a bridge between residential and outpatient programs. In this medium-to-high-intensity setting, clients attend four to eight hours of treatment a daily, or 20 or more weekly, while continuing to live at home or another off-site facility, such as a sober home or transitional living home. Clients do not require 24-hour supervision or receive around-the-clock medical assistance like residential clients. They are, however, required to meet their weekly commitments and attend intensive therapy sessions. PHPs are an option for people with co-occurring mental disorders.

INPATIENT ALCOHOL TREATMENT

Inpatient treatment, known at some centers as residential treatment, is a high level of care. In this setting, clients receive detox and rehabilitation services for substance addiction in medical clinics or hospital units designed for these purposes. This setting is commonly chosen to treat people who have serious medical conditions or mental health disorders.

MEDICATION-ASSISTED ALCOHOL TREATMENT (MAT)

Medication-assisted treatment combines behavioral therapy and medications to treat substance use disorders, writes the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Clients who have a physical dependence on primarily heroin and other opioids (or other drugs) may benefit from the MAT approach. Medical staff provides medication in a specialized outpatient setting in combination with counseling and other treatment services.

Alcohol Treatments

We use a variety of methods, including the 12-step facilitation program, for recovering alcoholics. This system encourages clients to commit to sobriety, relying on their family and friends – and our staff – for guidance and support. It is important that our clients get to the bottom of their addiction by addressing any underlying issues that may have led to their alcoholic tendencies. Through a series of group and individualized therapy sessions, our counselors will help addicts live their lives without alcohol. Sobriety is a process and a challenge, but it is something that recovering alcoholics find very rewarding. The Florida Addiction & Recovery Center also offers a nutrition program to speed up the recovery process, and a family program for external support. When one person struggles with substance abuse, his or her addiction affects the entire family.

The Florida Addiction & Recovery Center is considered one of the best drug and alcohol treatment facilities in the United States. Our location is fully licensed to treat drug addiction, alcohol addiction and co-occurring disorders.
