Summit’s Alcohol Program

Summit Detox’s alcohol detoxification program is based on the guiding principles established by the foremost experts in addiction medicine. These principles outline three basic steps in the detox process:

A detailed, personalized evaluation of each person who enters the program

Stabilization of each patient’s physical and emotional/psychological health in order to maximize the benefits of detoxification

Preparation of each patient for follow-up enrollment in an alcohol treatment program once detox comes to a successful conclusion

Sedation is well-recognized by addiction specialists as the most effective method of easing some of the worst symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. Summit provides this gold standard treatment with benzodiazepines and barbiturates, two classes of prescription sedative/tranquilizers only available to people under proper medical supervision. We also provide crucial support in the form of basic medical monitoring, IV fluids and nutritional supplementation. Additional core program resources include counseling and psychotherapy. Several factors can influence the exact course of detoxification. These include:

The severity of your alcohol addiction

The length of time for which addiction has been present

Your general level of physical well-being

Your general level of mental well-being

No matter which specific steps are taken, our ultimate goal is effective care that sets the stage for long-term alcohol addiction recovery.

Outpatient Alcohol Program

If you are thinking of treatment for a drug or alcohol abuse issue, you may want to know more about an Outpatient Treatment option. It can help you get therapy and counseling while you are living away from the facility, most likely at home. We offer this option because it is more convenient for those with families or who are working and cannot take time off.

What Are the Levels of Care?

There are several levels of care that begin from the moment you check into a rehab facility. These include:
• Residential treatment and detox
• Outpatient- OP
• Intensive Outpatient – IOP
• After care

What is the Difference Between Residential and Outpatient Care?

In a residential program, called Inpatient rehab, the patient stays at the facility; it may be more costly but has a higher success rate. The program can last from 28 days to six months. Detox is part of this program, and medical attention is available 24/7. On the other hand, there is Outpatient Rehab and treatment. Detox can be done while you’re in an outpatient program, if the withdrawal symptoms are mild to moderate. Withdrawal from drugs usually lasts about 5 to 6 days. Clients undergoing outpatient rehab detox must visit a rehab facility or hospital for checks while they are undergoing this detox. They must be available to physicians if medicine is needed. Some facilities may be registered to provide only one type of care, so be sure to check that they have an outpatient option.

Residential Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Residential Treatment – also known as inpatient treatment – is an ideal treatment option for those who have been struggling with a moderate to severe substance abuse disorder for any length of time. Patients will have access to 24-hour emotional and medical support, and they will undergo an intensive therapeutic program geared towards instilling essential life and relapse prevention skills, allowing patients to maintain sobriety for years to come. There are many benefits to residential treatment that other treatment options (such as intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization) will not provide.

Outpatient Alcohol Addiction Treatment

If you or a loved one are struggling with substance abuse and want to get better but need to continue working, taking care of your family, or going to school, then an outpatient program is the solution for you. A less intensive form of addiction treatment, outpatient clients meet a few times per week for group counseling and individual therapy under the guidance and support of addiction professionals.

Inpatient treatment is not always the answer and you can heal your addiction just as effectively with outpatient therapy. It’s also a popular step-down level of care for those clients that have completed a partial hospitalization program and are continuing their treatment to ensure they have all the tools needed to avoid a relapse in the real world.

Alcoholism is one of the most common substance abuse problems among American adults. It’s estimated that more than 15 million Americans struggled with an alcohol use disorder in 2016, the majority of those users between 18 and 25.

Regular and prolonged use of alcohol can cause your body to form a dependence on alcohol—it will feel like a physical craving for a drink, or you’ll feel unsteady or unstable without drinking.

Get comfortable and manageable detox care with us

Despite how socially normalized drinking alcohol is, it’s one of the most dangerous substances to detox from, and it’s vital that you seek medically supervised detoxification.

The medical supervision of our experienced and compassionate staff ensure your safety and comfort at all times. When you arrive at Boca Detox Center, one of our experienced and compassionate medical staff members will examine and interview you. We will create a customized care plan based on the risks and concerns specific to your case.

Clients can roam throughout the common areas of our luxurious facility, socializing with other clients in the common rooms for movie nights or games nights, attending one of our three daily clinical groups, or taking part in our nightly Twelve Step meeting hosted by volunteers from local fellowships.

Experienced and compassionate medical and clinical staff

Our physician and clinicians check in with clients daily to monitor their health and well-being; our medical staff will administer and monitor the prescription medications we use to help our clients manage their withdrawal symptoms and alleviate their discomfort. You’ll have access to our staff 24 hours a day for help and support.

When you’re ready to break the cycle of alcohol dependence, Boca Detox Center can offer you a luxurious setting and round-the-clock care to help you detox.
