East Bay Health Center–Barrington, operated by East Bay Community Action Program, brings behavioral health, crisis support, primary care, and community-based services together at the John P. Digits, Jr. Facility on Old County Road. The center serves people whose needs may range from short-term counseling and psychiatric care to more intensive support for serious and persistent mental illness. Its integrated setting can be especially useful for individuals whose emotional health, substance use, medical concerns, and day-to-day stability are closely connected.
Behavioral Health and Substance Use Services
Behavioral health referrals are coordinated through EBCAP’s ACCESS department. During intake, staff screen each person to determine the most appropriate level of care based on symptoms, safety concerns, treatment goals, and the services being requested. The center serves people with mild, moderate, or severe behavioral health needs who may benefit from counseling, psychiatric services, medication support, or coordinated community care. Walk-in and scheduled services are available during regular weekday hours, while emergency behavioral health assistance is available around the clock for people experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis.
For adults living with severe or persistent mental and emotional disorders, community support services may include Integrated Health Home support, Assertive Community Treatment, residential coordination, individual and group counseling, case management, medication administration, wellness coaching, and communication with hospitals or medical providers. These services are designed to help clients remain as safe, stable, and independent as possible in their own communities.
Approach to Treatment
Care is organized around the individual rather than a single diagnosis. The treatment process may involve behavioral health clinicians, psychiatric providers, case managers, wellness staff, pharmacists, and primary care professionals working together. This coordinated model allows the care team to address barriers that can interfere with progress, including medication access, untreated medical conditions, difficulty navigating benefits, or the need for a higher level of behavioral health support.
When substance use is part of the clinical picture, clients can be evaluated for appropriate counseling, psychiatric care, recovery support, or referral to a specialized program. EBCAP also operates additional recovery and substance use resources elsewhere in the East Bay region, giving staff the ability to connect clients with services that better match their needs.
Integrated Health and Recovery Support
The Barrington location also provides primary care for adults, children, and families, with integrated behavioral health services available through the medical home. On-site pharmacy support can help clients understand medication plans, fill prescriptions from multiple providers, and arrange delivery or pickup. This combination of behavioral health, medical care, and practical support can reduce gaps in treatment and make it easier to follow a coordinated care plan.
Insurance and Access
The center accepts Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and other third-party insurance plans. Services may also be available to people who are uninsured or underinsured, with sliding-fee arrangements based on income and household size. New patients are accepted.
