Adult treatment, case management, and recovery support services are provided by AMHC in collaboration with the Adult Drug Treatment Courts in Hancock and Washington Counties for Drug Court participants in Ellsworth, Machias, and Calais. AMHC has two Peer Recovery Centers that are staffed by peers and provide support services such as mentoring, education, and resource distribution to those in recovery. Caribou, Houlton, Calais, and Machias are among the locations where services are available.

When recurring use of alcohol and/or drugs results in clinically and functionally significant impairment, such as health problems, disability, and failure to meet key duties at work, school, or family, substance use disorders develop.
