AdCare Rhode Island Inc Residential operates on a 30-acre treatment campus at 1950 Tower Hill Road in North Kingstown. The facility provides medical detoxification, inpatient rehabilitation, and residential addiction treatment for adults with alcohol or drug use disorders. Its campus-based continuum allows patients to begin with withdrawal management when needed and continue into structured rehabilitation without changing organizations.
Medical Detoxification and Inpatient Care
Patients who are physically dependent on alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, or other substances may begin with medically supervised withdrawal management. Medical and nursing staff monitor symptoms, reduce health risks, and determine when the patient is ready to participate fully in rehabilitation. Medication may be used when clinically appropriate, including methadone or other treatment medications as part of an individualized plan.
After detoxification, patients may continue into inpatient or residential treatment. The structured setting provides regular clinical contact, a daily treatment schedule, and separation from environments connected with active substance use. Length of stay and treatment intensity depend on medical necessity, progress, insurance authorization, and the person’s recovery needs.
Therapy and Recovery Education
AdCare’s residential services include individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, educational groups, process groups, case management, and discharge planning. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps patients identify thought patterns and situations that contribute to substance use. Twelve-step facilitation introduces the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, while other secular recovery options may also be available.
Treatment plans are individualized and reviewed regularly. Patients work on cravings, relapse warning signs, emotional regulation, relationships, stress, grief, and the practical changes needed to return home safely. Family involvement may help loved ones understand addiction, improve communication, and establish boundaries that support recovery.
Co-Occurring Disorders and Specialized Programs
AdCare provides psychiatric care for depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, and other mental health conditions that occur alongside addiction. Trauma-based services may be incorporated when appropriate. The North Kingstown program also identifies specialized treatment and support for veterans, first responders, LGBTQ+ clients, young adults, impaired professionals, people with chronic relapse patterns, and other populations.
Wellness activities, mindfulness, art or music activities, stress-management groups, and recovery meetings may be part of the campus schedule. These services give patients several ways to develop coping skills and explore recovery supports that can continue after discharge.
Aftercare Planning
Planning for the next level of care begins at admission. Patients may step down to AdCare’s outpatient services on the same North Kingstown campus or connect with another provider closer to home. Continuing-care plans may include intensive outpatient treatment, standard counseling, medication management, peer support, sober housing, primary care, and community meetings.
Insurance and Admissions
AdCare accepts many insurance plans and is in-network with several major providers. Private-pay and financing options may also be available. Veterans may be eligible through TRICARE or VA community care, subject to authorization. Contact admissions to verify benefits, detox or residential availability, medical eligibility, and expected costs before arrival.
