Maine residents of any gender can benefit from Milestone’s detoxification program, which provides a safe, medically supervised transition through the acute stages of withdrawal from alcohol, opiates, and other addictive substances. Medical care is provided by a 24-hour nurse staff and a supervising physician to control symptoms and assist with the transition.

Clients also meet with drug use counselors during the program, which lasts 3 to 7 days and provides individual and group counseling as well as assistance in identifying and securing resources and supports for their next step of care after Milestone. Peer Navigators, who have been in recovery for a long time, engage with clients at Milestone and in the community to ensure a smooth transition.
