AMHC has two Peer Recovery Centers that are staffed by peers and provide support services such as mentoring, education, and resource distribution to those in recovery. Caribou, Houlton, Calais, and Machias are among the locations where services are available.

When recurring use of alcohol and/or drugs results in clinically and functionally significant impairment, such as health problems, disability, and failure to meet key duties at work, school, or family, substance use disorders develop. Substance abuse can coexist with other mental diseases, and it frequently obstructs treatment. You need treatment if you can’t quit taking drugs or alcohol on your own. Individuals, families, and others affected by substance abuse can seek treatment and recovery at AMHC.
