Thrive Behavioral Health Access Services is located at 50 Health Lane in Warwick. This is Thrive’s primary first-appointment and walk-in location for people seeking mental health or substance use treatment. Thrive is the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic for Kent County and provides care regardless of age, income, insurance status, or place of residence.
Same-Day Access and Assessment
New clients can visit during published walk-in hours or call 401-732-5656 to arrange an appointment. Access staff complete an initial screening and help determine which Thrive program is appropriate. The assessment considers symptoms, substance use, safety, psychiatric history, current medication, housing, family needs, and the level of care requested.
Same-day access is intended to reduce delays that can prevent people from entering treatment. Evening appointments may also be available by calling ahead. People experiencing an immediate crisis can contact Thrive’s 24-hour mobile crisis service at 401-738-4300 or call 988.
Substance Use Programs
Thrive provides adult outpatient substance use counseling through individual and group therapy. Clinicians are trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing. Treatment plans are guided by the client’s goals and values rather than a single standardized path.
Thrive also offers an intensive outpatient program lasting approximately eight to twelve weeks. Qualifying clients receive at least nine hours of group and individual treatment each week. The IOP specializes in co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions and can include medication management for opioid use disorder, alcohol use disorder, or other substance use conditions.
Psychiatric and Community Support
Substance use clients receive an initial assessment and psychiatric evaluation. Thrive uses American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria to help determine treatment intensity. Onsite adult and child psychiatrists provide medication evaluation and ongoing management. Additional services may include family therapy, targeted case management, trauma-focused care, employment support, and housing assistance.
Thrive also provides court-ordered programs, teen and young-adult services, youth and family treatment, and mobile crisis response. Clients can be referred to another Thrive location or outside provider when residential treatment, hospital care, or a service not available at Health Lane is needed.
The Health Lane office functions as the entry point rather than the final destination for every client. After assessment, a person may continue at Health Lane or be scheduled with another Thrive team, specialty program, housing service, or community-based provider.
Transportation and Payment
Eligible Medicaid recipients may receive non-emergency transportation to covered appointments through Rhode Island’s transportation program. Thrive accepts most major health insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. A sliding-fee scale is available for people who are uninsured or underinsured, and Thrive states that no client is turned away because of inability to pay. Call Access Services to verify current walk-in hours, insurance requirements, and the documents needed for the first appointment.
