Thrive Behavioral Health is a nonprofit Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic serving Warwick, Kent County, and communities across Rhode Island. The organization’s headquarters is located at 2756 Post Road in Warwick. Founded in 1976, Thrive provides outpatient mental health and substance use treatment, crisis response, housing assistance, youth and family programs, court-ordered services, psychiatric care, and community-based recovery support.
Headquarters and Program Coordination
The Post Road office serves as Thrive’s headquarters and administrative center. It is also connected with the organization’s outpatient and community-based service system. New clients generally begin through Thrive’s Access Services office at 50 Health Lane, where same-day walk-in appointments and first assessments are available. Staff then connect each person with the program and location that best match the identified needs.
The headquarters listing should not be interpreted as meaning that every Thrive service is delivered at 2756 Post Road. Clients should call before visiting to confirm whether an appointment, group, or clinical service is scheduled at Post Road, Health Lane, or another Thrive program location.
Substance Use Treatment
Thrive provides adult outpatient substance use counseling and an intensive outpatient program. Outpatient services include one-on-one and group therapy for people with substance use disorders. Clinicians use evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing.
The intensive outpatient program lasts approximately eight to twelve weeks and provides at least nine hours of individual and group treatment each week. It specializes in serving people who have both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health condition. Medication management may be included for opioid use disorder, alcohol use disorder, or another substance use condition when clinically appropriate.
Integrated Behavioral Health Care
Every substance use client receives an initial assessment and psychiatric evaluation. Thrive uses American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria to develop a holistic, person-centered recovery plan. Treatment can address depression, anxiety, trauma, serious mental illness, housing instability, employment concerns, and other factors that affect recovery.
Thrive’s broader services include adult and child psychiatry, targeted case management, family-based therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, employment support, housing programs, court-ordered care, and mobile crisis response. This range makes it possible to coordinate substance use treatment with other behavioral and practical needs.
Thrive’s CCBHC model is designed as a no-wrong-door system. People can request help for mental health or substance use concerns even when they are unsure which diagnosis or program applies. Staff can coordinate assessment, crisis services, treatment, and referrals across the organization.
Insurance and Access
Thrive accepts most major health insurance plans, including Rhode Island Medicaid and Medicare. No client is turned away because of an inability to pay, and a sliding-fee schedule is available for uninsured or underinsured clients based on income. The headquarters number is 401-691-6000. New clients should call Access Services at 401-732-5656 to schedule an appointment or confirm walk-in hours.
