CODAC Cranston provides outpatient treatment for opioid use disorder and other substance use conditions from its Park Avenue location. As one of CODAC Behavioral Healthcare’s established Rhode Island programs, the clinic offers a combination of medication-assisted treatment, counseling, behavioral therapy, recovery planning, and clinical monitoring. The program is intended for adults who need dependable treatment and support while continuing to manage work, family responsibilities, housing, and other parts of daily life.
Treatment Services
Care begins with an assessment that considers the individual’s substance use history, medical and behavioral health needs, previous treatment experiences, personal strengths, and recovery goals. Based on that evaluation, the treatment team may recommend medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder using methadone, buprenorphine, oral naltrexone, or injectable naltrexone when appropriate. Medication decisions are made collaboratively between the patient and qualified medical providers and are supported by counseling and behavioral health services.
CODAC also offers general outpatient and intensive outpatient services. General outpatient care may include scheduled individual counseling, group counseling, substance use testing, recovery education, and regular progress reviews. For people who need a greater level of structure, intensive outpatient programming may provide at least nine hours of individual and group treatment each week over several weeks. Treatment intensity can be adjusted as the person’s needs change.
Individualized Treatment Approach
The Cranston program uses a person-centered approach rather than expecting every patient to follow the same path. Counselors and medical staff work with clients to identify triggers, strengthen coping strategies, improve decision-making, and build a recovery plan that is practical outside the clinic. Behavioral therapy can help patients address patterns that contribute to continued substance use, while supportive counseling provides a place to work through setbacks, motivation, relationships, and the challenges of maintaining recovery.
CODAC also recognizes that addiction can affect family members and other people close to the patient. When appropriate and with the client’s consent, supportive relatives or friends may be included in education and recovery planning. The goal is to create a healthier support system while respecting the patient’s privacy and independence.
Recovery and Community Support
Treatment can include coordination with healthcare providers, mental health services, recovery organizations, and community resources. Clients with co-occurring behavioral health concerns may receive integrated support or referral to appropriate specialists. Recovery planning may address wellness, employment, family relationships, housing stability, and other factors that influence a person’s ability to remain engaged in care.
CODAC’s outpatient model allows patients to remain connected with treatment over time. Regular clinical contact, medication monitoring, counseling, and recovery-support planning can be adjusted as stability improves or as new challenges arise.
Getting Started
CODAC promotes timely access to care and may accept walk-ins or arrange treatment soon after first contact, depending on current operations and clinical needs. Prospective patients should contact the Cranston location directly to confirm hours, admission procedures, required documentation, insurance participation, medication availability, and the level of treatment currently offered.
