The program has been on the cutting edge of holistic treatment that incorporates traditional psychiatric treatment with an individualized approach that facilitates positive momentum toward meeting an individual’s needs. La Amistad is committed to individualized treatment through an integrated model of traditional 12-Step techniques along therapy that focuses on family, wellness, responsibility, and abstinence.

La Amistad subscribes to the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s definition of addiction which is a primary chronic disease of brain reward, motivation, memory, and related neurological pathways.

Therefore, the program combines the following modalities: individual psychotherapy, family therapy, medication management, process groups, education groups, peer groups, 24-hour nursing, self-help meetings (including NA & AA) with the use of CBT/DBT inclusive of mindfulness and relaxation. Recreation therapy, equine therapy, yoga, swimming, and other experiential therapies are used to bring the focus on health, lifestyle, and nutrition.
