Alcohol Use Evaluation
When a substance abuse evaluation is completed and it is determined that there in an alcohol and/or drug problem, the addictions counselor will be responsible to determine a diagnosis and to make treatment recommendations that best meet the needs of the individual. Treatment recommendations will not be the same for each individual; they should be personalized based on each individual’s unique history, current situation, strengths, and current needs.

A Substance Use Evaluation can be a very positive experience. It provides a brief intervention that educates the individual, family members and others on the nature and extent of the individual’s alcohol and drug problem. Additionally, a Substance Abuse Evaluation provides professional treatment recommendations that can assist an individual in obtaining education and therapy around their alcohol and/or drug issues. To obtain the most benefit from a Substance Abuse Evaluation, the client must be held accountable by themselves and their support network to follow through on the recommendations.
