Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment at DayOne
The DayOne Program at the University of Vermont Medical Center is an outpatient rehabilitation program for alcohol and substance use disorders. We provide comprehensive treatments ranging from office-based evaluation and treatment to intensive outpatient services.

The DayOne Program offers group therapy using the following techniques:
- Emotion Regulation – the ability to take charge of your emotions and respond to emotional situations.
- Mindfulness – Focusing on awareness of the present moment.
- Group Psychotherapy – A small group that meets under the guidance of a trained therapist.
- Motivational Enhancement – A technique designed to improve a person’s motivation to change their behavior.
- Cognitive Behavior Therapy – An evidence-based treatment to address thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
- Relapse Prevention
- Coping & life skills training
- Other evidence-based solution-focused techniques
Each group meets for an average of 12 sessions.
The DayOne Program treats adult men and woman, age 18+, who are experiencing symptoms related to addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders, as well as the following:
- Alcohol Dependency
- Cocaine Dependency
- Benzodiazepine Dependency
- Opiate Dependency
